When we were designing this elementary level astronomy course, we had two big priorities.
• We wanted your kids to have plenty of academic material to consume, reaching different learning styles.
• We wanted the course to be flexible for you.
So, that’s what we did.
Each lesson contains a video lecture, about 15 minutes long. This is the hub of the course every student should watch. If you watch one per week, it will take you a school year to complete.
In addition, each lesson also has…
• Recommended reading list – These are books you can pick up at your local library or purchase for your home library. Use these books as read-alouds or independent reading, based on your child’s reading level. (Click here to get a complete recommended reading list for the whole course.)
• Hands-on activity – These are activities you can do with your child to reinforce the video lesson material.
• Memory work – This portion consists of both flash cards to use with your child and a corresponding “memory video” where we tell your child the important facts he or she should be memorizing.
• Copywork – These are sheets you can give your child to help them practice their handwriting. Both print and cursive practice sheets are available to use.
In addition we’ve created quizzes for every lesson. Give these to your child shortly after watching the video lectures. (Be sure to download the Answer Key.)
You can choose to use all, some, or none of this supplemental material based on your academic needs.
